The housing/room selection process for new, incoming UHart students lives within the Housing Application. 

What is Housing Selection?

Housing selection is the process that allows returning students to select where they want to live for the following year. There are two important steps everyone must complete in order to participate in housing selection:

  1. Pay a $75.00 Housing Application Fee by Thursday, March 14.
  2. Complete an Academic Year 2024-2025 Housing Application by Tuesday, March 19.

What is the Housing Application Fee?

The $75 Housing Application Fee is required to live in on-campus housing and participate in housing selection. This fee is non-refundable, allows the Office of Residential Life to know how many returning students will be living on campus, and provides them access to the housing application. It is payable through CASHNET or in person at the Center for Student Success (CSS).

The Housing Application will become available 48 hours after you’ve submitted your application fee. For example, if you pay the housing application fee on a Monday, the Housing Application will become available to you by Wednesday.  

How Do I Fill Out the Housing Application?

Once your application fee has been processed, the Housing Application will be available through your Self-Service account. You must complete this application to participate in room selection.

You will need to:

  1. Log in to Self-Service
  2. Go to the Student tab
  3. Select “Residential Life"
  4. Log in with your University of Hartford email credentials
  5. Select “Housing Application”
  6. Select "Academic Year 2024-2025"
  7. Complete and submit the Academic Year 2024-2025 application

Other Information

Students choose on-campus housing though the Housing Selection process for a full academic year (August-May). 

Students who do not select housing will be assigned a space based on unit availability. 

See the Residential Housing Refund Policy for more information on specific cancellation fees and/or refund amounts. Please note that next year's information is only available on the Housing Portal in Self-Service until the conclusion of the current academic year.

Lottery Number Distribution: March 20
Roommate Group Creation: March 21—April 5
Room Selection: April 8—April 19 (based on enrollment year, group status, and lottery number)
